Gilles Simon with a second success in Marseille

The fifth placed in the main draw of the tennis tournament in Marseille ("ATP 250") Gilles Simon has won the title. Entirely in a French finale he beat Gael Monfils No7 with 6: 4, 1: 6, 7: 6 (4) after 2 and half hours game.

The success is the 12-th in the career of the 30 years old Simon and second in the southern port city after he has become a champion in 2007.

After an exchange of breaks, the tennis player from Nice achieved a second break at the end to win the first set. In the second Monfils picked the percent of scored first serve to 70. This helped to prevent the Parisian a break point and then he made three for the convincing 6: 1.
In the final part led to a tiebreak, which had to determine the winner. The exchange of the sections came at 4: 2 points for Simon. At 6: 4 he came to two match-points and realized the first of his first serve.

So Gilles has record a fifth victory against Monfils in their sixth meeting. The title brought for Simon 250 points for the world rankings, which would allow him to climb one place and from tomorrow to be No16, as well a check for EUR 102,900.
