Atletico Madrid`s interest in Alvaro Morata is more than obvious and the Spanish club is ready to take concrete action to overtake the competition for the Chelsea striker`s signature. To make the transfer a fact, the Madrid players have to get rid of at least two of their current footballers. Most likely, this will be Nikola Kalinic and Gelson Martins. Both of them came in the summer, but they did not manage to get involved with Diego Simeone.
Atletico can not attract a new footballer without breaking up with someone because the club by live soccer matches has already reached the 293 million euros limit for salaries. This happened due to Antoine Griezmann`s new contract, which will take over 20 million euros a year.
Martins came to Wanda Metropolitano from Sporting (Lisbon) and expectations were soon to become an important part of the lineup. However, the Portuguese disappointed with his performance and rarely gets playing minutes. The situation with Kalinic is slightly different because it was taken to Diego Costa`s reserve and in recent weeks played relatively regularly because of the Brazilian injury with a Spanish passport.
As for Morata, his time in Chelsea is over. London`s blues wants to attract Gonzalo Higuain and the Spaniard will be unnecessary. Atletico is not Morata`s only signature candidate but seems to have the best chance of attracting him. The striker is even willing to cut his salary of 9 million euros to put on the team.
